Miata World '99, Dallas Texas, May 6-9, 1999

- #01: Jeanne and I wash our cars on Saturday May 1,
the morning of the 10th anniversary party at Mazda headquarters
in Irvine. We made a last minute decision to drive both our Miatas to
Dallas instead of just bringing Jeanne's. We depart for Dallas immediately
after the morning's party.
- #02: At the 10th anniversary party, Art Hamilton
of the San Diego Miata Club displays his box set of goodies which comes
with his 10th Anniversary Model Miata. The box set includes his and hers
Seiko watch, keychain, toy car, and a certificate of authenticity.

- #06: On our way to Dallas, we stop at White Sands
Monument in New Mexico on May 3rd. 30-40 mph gusting winds made walking
around the sand dunes difficult and painful.
- #07: On the morning of Thursday, May 6, we meet
at Jack Sherman Mazda in Midland, Texas for breakfast. People from
SOCALM, the San Diego Club and BAMA converge there to begin a 24 car caravan
to Dallas.

- #11: Jeanne and I arrive on Thursday afternoon at
the Harvey Hotel in Irving Texas.

99 Miata. Depending on which angle you look, the color could be orange,
yellow, purple, pink, green. Very hypnotizing.s

#17: Uggh...my hot lap session was at 8:00am on Friday
at Texas Motor Speedway. Had to wake up early that day, but it was well
worth it.
- #18: Inside the vendor area, an area was set up for
RC (Remote Control) car racing of '99 Miata models. Very cool.
- #19: Hussein Tejani (white hat) and Jeanne (green
shirt) race RC Miata cars.
- #20: Jeanne in Mazda's M speedster.
- #21: Jon Martinez and Judy Powell working the San
Diego Miata Club's Surf and Safari booth.
- #22: BBQ dinner on Friday night at the Austin Dude
ranch.
- #23: We sat with very nice folks at the BBQ

Jeanne and I, and Ches Cain.

- #29: Jeanne and I volunteered as corner workers for
Saturday's afternoon's hot lap session.
- #30: Saturday night's birthday bash banquet. Hey,
it's the Miata's 10th birthday!
- #31: Jeanne and I won a door prize during
Saturday's banquet - a set of Dunlop tires!
This is amazing since we also won a set of
Yokohama tires as a door prize during Racing Beat's open house
last month. We're 2 for 2 so far winning tires at Miata events this year :-)
- #32: Larry and Pam Allen of Dallas Texas, were
the winners of the 10th Anniversary Miata.

#36: On Sunday morning, Miatas get packed like
sardines at turn 1 at Texas Motor Speedway for a poster picture taking.
