I ordered a pair of these "button bumps" from Bill Cardell's The Dealer Alternative booth at the Golden Gate Getaway back in May, 96, received them in mid June, and it wasn't until yesterday that I installed them. Cost was $10 a pair for these black bumps. They are made by Kaleva Design Inc. of San Leandro.
According to the instruction sheet that came with them, the Black Bumps are made of Delrin acetal, and the Bright Bumps are made of 6061-T6 aluminum. As you can see from the pictures, the side that faces towards the driver has a nice curved shape, and the other side with the adhesive, is completely flat.
Installation was a snap. You remove the 15 amp horn fuse (the one labeled "STOP" in the fuse box) to ensure that the horn doesn't continually honk as you press down on the horn button. Clean the horn buttons first with some alcohol to remove any oils that prevents the bumps from sticking. Peel off the backing paper from the button bumps and then stick it on the horn button. If you place them on very lightly, they can be repositioned in case you didn't get it exactly centered the first time. But once any significant pressure is applied to the bumps, they'll permanently stick.
The bumps look completely stock, matching the color of the existing black horn buttons quite well. Overall, a very nice, simple, appealing addition to the car.
